Sefton’s Fostering Service is proud to introduce our new ‘Foster Carer Advocates.’
As well as doing an amazing job looking after some of Sefton’s most vulnerable children, a group of our amazing carers have taken on the role of actively flying the flag for fostering.
Keep an eye out as our advocates will be out and about at events and hotspots across the Borough, ready to chat to anyone who wants to know more about fostering.
As well as offering friendly advice and guidance, our advocates will be giving people the chance to take part in competitions and get their hands on special fostering give outs.
Come and meet our advocates and get the chance to win a £20 gift voucher, as they kick off activities:
Friday 1st December
Strand Supermarket Bootle
10.30 – 1.30pm
Christine and her daughter Olivia have been fostering for Sefton for eight years. Christine said:
“As foster carers we get to see every day how just being there for these children really makes a difference to their lives.
“We’re are normal people who just want to help. We get great support from Sefton and from each other. We’re all close friends and it really is like being in one big family.
“This is why it’s great to come out together to share this important message that we need more carers, and anyone has the potential to foster.”
Cllr Mhairi Doyle MBE, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said:
“Our foster carers are just amazing for what they are doing, giving our children a loving home especially over the festive time of year.
“For them to want to give even more of their time to come out and talk to people, just shows how passionate they are and how great the need is for more local people to join our fostering family.
“People need to understand carers are just normal individuals so actually anyone can do it, you’ve just got to take that step to find out more.”
Sefton’s Foster Carers are paid for their skills, receive full training and support, plus allowances. Anyone who is thinking about fostering can find out more by speaking to one of the team by completing the short enquiry form seftonfostering.co.uk/ask-our-experts/contact-us/ Or they can call the freephone number – 0800 923 2777
