Have your say on plans for Covid memorials
04 December 2023 2min read
Residents in Sefton are being asked for their views on the location of Covid memorials across the Borough.
Memorials across the Borough
The authority is working on plans to create a number of memorials across the Borough to remember those who lost their life or were affected by the pandemic.
The Council wants to acknowledge the enormous loss and sadness but also the inspiration and togetherness in our communities it created as we all supported each other.
Spaces for reflection
Councillor Trish Hardy, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, said: “We know the pandemic had a big impact on our communities and we’re looking to create these spaces for reflection.
“We’ve put a lot of thought into where the memorials could go and we wanted to share our plans with members of the public so they can have their say.
“We’re proposing that the memorial would be a simple layout with a memorial bench in the centre and a circle of trees creating a quiet and peaceful environment.”
Five areas
The council is proposing to establish five areas for quiet reflection within our open spaces – one in each of Sefton's townships:
- North Park, Bootle
- Victoria Park, Crosby
- KGV Park Meadows, Maghull
- Duke Street Park, Formby
- Botanic Gardens, Southport

Hard copies will also be available in all libraries.
The survey will run until Friday 12 January.
