More welcoming route to school for Litherland pupils after Council’s subway clean-up

A cleaner, and more welcoming route awaited pupils returning to Litherland’s English Martyrs Catholic and St. Philip's Church of England primary schools after the half term.
Sefton Council’s Waste Management & Street Cleansing Services have been carrying out a thorough clean-up of the subway, used by pupils of both schools, under the busy A5036 Church Road.
Last week, Ford ward councillors Liz Dowd, Ian Moncur and Paulette Lappin and Cllr Peter Harvey, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Cleansing and Street Scene, visited the subway, to see what had been done.

The work was carried out as part of the authority’s commitment to improve the environment around the A5036. The Council is hoping to build on this work through partnership with National Highways, which manages this road as part of England’s strategic road network.
