Sandway homes gets latest Sefton development underway with new partnership

Sandway Homes Limited has entered into a new partnership with north-west company Challenger Building Services Limited to build its next scheme at Molyneux Gardens in Netherton.
Molyneux Gardens is the third development for Sandway Homes and takes its name from a famous Sefton family buried in the nearby St. Helen’s Church in Sefton Village.
Virtually sold
Sefton Council’s arm’s length housing development company and has already delivered 78 homes across its first two developments. Its Sandy Brook development in Ainsdale and Hey Farm Gardens in Crossens are virtually sold with only a few plots still available.
Over 60 new homes will be created by the Molyneux Gardens scheme, including of 45 two-, three- and four-bed new build homes for sale. Also being built are 18 one- and two- bed apartments within two apartment blocks which will provide Sefton Council with its first new housing stock since 2006.
Based in the North West, new partner, Challenger Building Services Limited has worked with a range of partners to deliver a range of project including residential developments like Molyneux Gardens, as well as shared ownership, apartments and supported living schemes.
Delivering 63 new homes
Lin Powell, Sandway’s Managing Director said: “We’re delighted that work on our Molyneux Gardens development, which will to deliver 63 new, mixed-tenure homes, is underway and that we are progressing this new scheme with our new partner, Challenger Building Services.”
Molyneux Gardens has been made possible with Brownfield Funding from Liverpool City Combined Authority.
Lin continued: “This scheme is an excellent example of successful partnership working that will see us deliver Sefton Council with is the first council homes in 18 years plus a range high-quality two-, three- and four- bedroom houses for outright sale.
The development is located on the edge of Netherton, nestled close to Sefton Village and offers semi-rural living with views towards Jubilee Woods, Roughlys Wood and Broom’s Cross. The first homes will be released early 2025.
Re-energise the local area
Challenger Building Services managing Director Richard Hutchinson said: “Challenger Building Services are delighted to have been chosen as Sandway’s construction delivery partner at their new Molyneux Gardens development, which will deliver much needed housing and re-energise the local area.
“It’s great to see brownfield sites like this coming through the planning process successfully and to be involved in delivering these 18 new landmark properties for Sefton Council."
Energy-efficient designs
High efficiency boilers and heating systems and energy-efficient designs with high thermal efficiency values to reduce heat loss are among the measures that will help reduce the Buckley Hill Lane site’s carbon footprint and offset its impact on climate change.
Each of the new properties and apartment blocks at the Buckley Hill development will have electric vehicle charging points. Ground floor apartments will also be built to meet national accessibility and adaptability standards.
