Schoolchildren across Sefton have their voices heard in new consultation

The voices of children and young people will be at the heart of a new Children and Young People Plan as Sefton Council embark on a large consultation gathering views from children, young people, families, parents, carers and professionals to inform their plans for the future.
Aspiration
The Children and Young People Plan aims to make Sefton the best place to grow up by keeping them safe, healthy, happy and heard as well as giving them the tools to achieve whatever they set out to achieve.
The consultation, which launches to the public today, is looking to gather as much feedback as possible to make sure that the plan really reflects the community and focuses on the things that are top of the list for children and young people.
A great start in life
Cllr Mhairi Doyle, Cabinet Member for Children’s Social Care said: “The Children and Young People Plan is key for us as it focuses on improving all those elements that can give our children a great start in life: health, wellbeing, leisure, education, employment and so much more.
“Making sure we are focusing on the priorities of children and young people in our plans for the future is crucial; we want to truly hear what children in Sefton are telling us along with their parents, carers, families and the people who work with them.
“We want Sefton to be the best place to be a child, where all children can achieve their goals and think big with their dreams so I urge everyone to get involve and help us make Sefton the best place to grow up.”
The consultation started in Sefton schools on Monday 5th February 2024 and with the public today (12th February). It will end on Friday 22nd March 2024.
