The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has secured £10.35m as part of the Department of Energy, Security and Net Zero’s (DESNZ) Home Upgrade Grant 2 (HUG2) which aims to tackle fuel poverty in non-gas central heating properties and boost energy efficiency in housing stock across the Liverpool City Region.
Funding across Local Authorities
The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority is working with Local Authorities to make changes to eligible properties (known as retrofit measures) to support to reduce energy bills, reduce carbon emissions, and make homes warmer.
The funding will be split across Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, and Wirral Local Authorities to support households that meet the conditions of the funding, including owner-occupiers and the private rented sector for works to be carried out on around 500 properties by March 2025.
This second wave of Home Upgrade Grant funding will ensure that housing stock in the Liverpool City Region achieves Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) band C by 2035 and contributes to the LCR’s net zero carbon target of 2040.
