A Sefton Council job brokerage service supporting residents with employment and training has been shortlisted for a national award.

Sefton@Work, who help people in the Borough improve their lives by giving them the tools to find new jobs or education, was announced as one of the Inclusive Awards finalists for their Social Mobility Project Award.

Helping communities

The award recognises the hard work that has been done by Sefton@Work from their Bootle and Southport offices. Their successes include guiding people who have faced discrimination towards paid employment opportunities and arranging placements to build skills and confidence. Their thorough approach means that people remain supported even after securing a placement or job.

The organisation is one of eight finalists for the award, with the winner being announced on Tuesday 5th December at a special event in London.

Cllr Marion Atkinson, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills added: “Sefton@Work are brilliant at giving people vital skills to further their educational and job prospects.

“This award reflects the fantastic and often unsung work that they do every day."

Paul Sesay, CEO of Inclusive Companies and founder of the Inclusive Awards: "In difficult and challenging times, using the talent of a diverse workforce is more important than ever.

“The Inclusive Awards continue to be an exceptional way to celebrate
the courageous actions of individuals and organisations, who are already striving for inclusion.

“Not only does diversity within a workforce foster an inclusive working environment, it can also bring business benefits and provide a market advantage.

“We look forward to celebrating the many and varied achievements of our finalists and I congratulate them all for being shortlisted for the impact they’ve made.”

Inclusivity and diversity

The Inclusive Awards are hosted by Inclusive Companies, a membership body specialising in equality, diversity and inclusion in the UK.

Their awards celebrate the nation’s most inclusive organisations, recognising employers that go above and beyond in tackling issues and have shown outstanding commitment to equality.
