This year you could do something amazing. Foster with Sefton and you could be the difference in a child’s life.

Make this a year to remember and think about becoming a foster carer in 2024.
Sefton Council is looking for local people to give a child a better start in life and help them thrive by giving them a loving home.
We’re looking for people from all backgrounds so please, don’t rule yourself out. Our call out is for all local people, married, single, with or without children, from diverse ethnic backgrounds, religion, gender, sexuality and people with disabilities.
You don’t need a spare room to care for babies under two years old.
The Council is committed to offering support to carers every step of the way. This includes specialist support, training, and an excellent financial package.
Kim has been fostering with Sefton for nearly three years. She said:
“Fostering is the best thing we have ever done, and we love every minute of it.
We’re not special in any way. Honestly, anyone can do it. Just giving them a loving home and being there really makes a difference to their lives. You see them going from shy and quiet to confident little children. It just warms your heart.
“Don’t worry about not feeling ready, you’re given training and constant one to one support from the fostering team. The advice and support from other carers has also been amazing.”
Cllr Mhairi Doyle, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Children Social Care said;
“We want people to understand there are children from our communities in Sefton who need loving homes. Sometimes these children and young people have to move far away because there just aren’t enough homes locally. These are good children who come into care through no fault of their own.
“The start of a new year is a time where some people are evaluating their lives and thinking about changes for the future. I urge you to take this opportunity to find out more, especially if you want to give back to our community. What better way than to be the difference in the life of one of our own children.”
Sefton’s in-house foster care is at full capacity. To help our children we need to recruit a least 20 more additional carers by the end of this year.
