Work to clear Ince Blundell footpath

The Ince Blundell footpath between Formby and Hightown will be closed between 9.30am and 4pm for three weeks so that weed clearance can take place..
Clearing weeds and vegetation
Contractors working on behalf of Sefton Council are busy clearing debris, weeds and overgrown vegetation from the much loved footpath.
However, in order for the works to be carried out safely, Sefton Council has temporarily closed off the path between Andrew's Lane in Formby and Thistledown Drive, Hightown.
The closure will be in place between the hours of 9am-4pm and is expected to last until Friday 16th June.
Historic features
As its name suggests, the Ince Blundell footpath is a 4-mile circular walk around the rural Ince Blundell parish. It passes numerous historic features associated with the Blundell family lords of the manor from the 12th Century.

Alternative routes
While the Ince Blundell footpath closed, ramblers and walkers are encouraged to explore other sights around the Borough including the nearby and popular Hightown Loop.
The Hightown Loop is a counter clockwise route of 6.2 miles (10Km), comprising a mixture of bridleway, shared use pathway and minor roads which can be walked and cycled.
The loop provides views of sprawling farmland, quiet residential dwellings and coastal vistas. Key points along the route include St Mary's Church. the Coastal Park, Burbo Bank Offshore Wind Farm and Anthony Gormley's Another Place.
