Sefton Council is releasing a brand-new Co-Production Guide to mark the start of Co-Production Week (Monday 3^rd to Friday 7^th July).

Co-production means including the views and voices of those with lived experience and local residents in the development of services to make sure they fit people’s actual needs. It means involving everyone, including adults, children and young people.

Partnership

Sefton’s new Guide, created in partnership with People First Merseyside and the Sefton Improving Information Group, outlines how staff can work with members of the public, partners, and local organisations to improve services or introduce new projects.

Working together with people across Sefton is already well-established, but the new Co-Production Guide will provide staff with further support for future projects.

Alongside the Guide’s launch, Sefton Council will be using Co-Production Week to celebrate work that has already taken place by Sefton Council and its partners. New stories and examples will be released every day on social media, with further examples available on the website.

Among the successes being highlighted are the recent work to improve day opportunities for adults with complex needs, the introduction of Changing Places toilets to several Sefton locations and work done by Sefton Carers Centre with young carers to create a series of children’s books.

Councillor Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regulatory, Compliance and Corporate Services said:
“It is important to mark Co-Production Week as it is an approach to developing and improving services that is central to Sefton Council’s work.

“Our staff already have a wealth of experience in co-production for us to celebrate and the new Guide will only help us to take further positive strides.

“It is a valuable resource to help us continue our work in co-production and will prove very useful to our staff.”

“Working jointly with residents and organisation across the Borough to co-produce projects is essential.

“Residents are at the heart of everything the Council does, and we strongly believe that we must ensure that everyone’s voice is heard throughout every stage.

“This week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the hard work staff, residents and businesses have done together and to appreciate the spirit of collaboration that has inspired some great successes across Sefton.”
