Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training

All staff in Adult and Children’s Services are required to complete Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism.

Oliver had mild autism, epilepsy and learning difficulties and died aged eighteen in hospital. Oliver’s death shone a light on the need for health and social care staff to have training on Autism and Learning Disabilities.

The Health and Care Act 2022 introduced a requirement that regulated service providers which includes Adult and Children’s Services must ensure their staff receive learning disability and autism training appropriate to their role.

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is the standardised training that was developed for this purpose and is the government's preferred and recommended training for health and social care staff.

The eLearning is now live and is available by clicking on the following link – NHSE elfh Hub (e-lfh.org.uk)
