The Sefton Domestic Abuse Partnership Board is a partnership group of a range of local statutory and voluntary agencies who are responsible for supporting Sefton Council in meeting its duty under Part 4 of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
The Board works together to support, advise, and work in partnership with Sefton Council to ensure victims of domestic abuse have access to adequate and appropriate support within relevant safe accommodation services. The Board is an equitable partnership that reflects the needs of those impacted by domestic abuse in the local area and works to ensure victims of domestic abuse have access to appropriate and specialist support within relevant safe accommodation services.
The Board works together to improve outcomes for victims of domestic abuse, including their children, through a strategic approach to identifying and addressing gaps in support within relevant safe accommodation services.
The experiences of people affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence continues to be the driver of services that we plan and deliver together. Our strategy is ambitious as we seek long term safety in homes, relationships, community and society.
No one agency can tackle this alone, and our partnership is vital. Domestic abuse remains everyone’s business and it is only by working together that we can hope to develop our understanding, approach and services in such a way that we increase the safety and life chances of everyone.
Our Domestic and Sexual Abuse Strategy prioritises three key themes –
Prevent
Early intervention provision, including improving public knowledge on domestic and sexual abuse to drive a cultural shift, intervening earlier to prevent and reduce the impact of longer-term poor outcomes, and breaking the cycle of abuse across generations.
Protect
Keeping victims/survivors of domestic and sexual abuse and their children safe in a consistent and coordinated way, providing safe and quality assured support services, and challenging the behaviour of perpetrators whilst also offering opportunities to change.
Repair
Supporting the development of resilience for families and individuals to move on and deal with future life challenges, providing ongoing support beyond crisis intervention.
