Sustainable Energy Action Plan (Covenant of Mayors)

Sefton Council are a member of the Covenant of Mayors (CoM). This is a European movement where local authorities, voluntarily commit to increasing energy efficiency and use of renewable energy. They also commit to exceeding the European Union 20% CO2 reduction objective by 2020 (1990 baseline).

Over 2,000 cities and towns across Europe have made a commitment and become signatories to CoM.

The Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) for Sefton demonstrates how we will meet our commitments made under the EU Covenant of Mayors movement. It has been developed to provide;

  • An analysis of Sefton’s energy use and carbon emissions
  • Set out ongoing, planned and potential measures to reduce emissions.

A copy of our SEAP is currently being considered by the EU and a copy can be found on the EU Covenant of Mayors website.

If you would like to comment on the SEAP please contact the Sustainability Officer on 0151 934 4552.
