Southport is a unique and classic seaside town that has real potential to build on and enhance its profile and contribution to economic growth in the region. The Southport Town Deal reflects a commitment to attract new investment and work towards realising long-term ambitions through a co-ordinated approach to town centre development, bringing forward key opportunity sites and enhancing key heritage assets as well as improving the public realm and enhancing accessibility throughout the town centre.
Southport TIP builds upon the Southport masterplan and Southport Investment Framework developed by Sefton Council (Nexus and Broadway Malyan 2016). The document incorporates views and comments gathered at a range of consultation events and town centre stakeholders.
Southport Investment Strategy links into the Sefton Local Plan, identifying specific development proposals along with support for the planning regeneration priorities for the area and will help guide the future of the council’s current property and land holdings in the town.
It is envisioned that investor confidence will also be enhanced through the Town Deal plans and associated development for Southport. Sefton Council will be working closely with developers, investors and other stakeholders to help bring together both private and public sector resources to improve the overall economic health and vitality of the town as a key visitor economy gateway and economic driver for the north of the borough.
